Argon Filled Units



We offer argon filled double glazed units for a small additional cost, over that of conventional units.

Argon is a colourless, odourless, non-flammable, non-reactive, inert gas. Argon gas fills reduce heat loss in our sealed units by slowing down convection inside the air space. As air itself is a good insulator, filling the gap between the glass panes with a low-inductivity gas such as argon improves window performance by reducing conductive and convective heat transfers. This phenomenon results from the fact that the density of the gas is greater than the density of the air.

This combination of Argon Gas and low-e energy saving glass alone can achieve an improvement in thermal performance in the region of 50% over and above that of a standard sealed unit.
